Hakim Asadi

Hakim Asadi is the founder of Beyond Living. Hakim received his Master of Social Work degree from the University at Albany. His experience as an LMSW includes working with individuals living and coping with HIV/AIDS, mental health, and substance use. Hakim is licensed in New York State and is a certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Bridges Out of Poverty Trainer, and Life Coach. He was also an integral part of The New York Model for Batterer’s Program in Albany NY, and Schenectady NY which addresses the issue of Intimate Partner Relationship Violence.

He is the recipient of 2018 In Our Own Voices’ LGBT POC Health and Human Service Award and serves as a board member on the Board of Directors with Hometown Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Schenectady, NY. Hakim is also a 2019 alumnus of the New Leaders Council Fellowship and served as an adjunct professor of Social Work at Siena College. He leverages his experience as a social worker, and man of color, to teach classes and facilitate workshops for folks to lead with an open mind and an open heart. Hakim enjoys hanging out with friends and family, engaging in intellectual conversation, and holding space for anyone in need.
