Meet Georgia Bates, our dedicated Manager of State Government Relations & Advocacy at ZERO.. Hailing from Houston, TX, and currently residing in Austin, Georgia holds a B.S. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Her extensive background includes roles such as Associate at Texas Star Alliance, Public Policy & Advocacy Manager at Smart City Policy Group, Government Relations Manager at Ensign Services, and Legislative Specialist at the Texas Physical Therapy Association. Before ZERO, Georgia focused on health and education policy, defending state benefit mandates for screening services, including prostate cancer screening. She passionately lobbied for organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Children’s Defense Fund, and mental health funding for the City of Uvalde.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Georgia is an enthusiastic fan of live music, theater, comedy, and karaoke. She finds joy in art, including painting and crafting, and is a devoted Texas Longhorns football follower. Her interests extend to yoga, pilates, and exploring books and podcasts on law, politics, history, and psychology. 

Georgia's connection to the cause runs deep, with two grandfathers and an uncle who triumphed over prostate cancer. She is motivated by a personal commitment to fight for prostate cancer patients and families, reflecting her own family's victory against this disease. She joined ZERO in order to advocate for policies that bridge the gap between racial and health disparities in prostate cancer.
