Side Effects of Prostate Cancer Treatment

Side Effects: Pain

In this section:

Pain is a major side effect of advanced prostate cancer.

Treatment for localized prostate cancer can cause some pain, but it usually does not last long.

However, advanced prostate cancer can cause severe pain, particularly when metastisized to the bone.

Pain

Treatment ranges from over-the-counter pain killers and prescription narcotics to radiation treatment and even accupuncture.

A man should consult with his doctor on the best strategy to treat and cope with pain. No one should be in excessive pain and pain specialists are available to help construct the best treatment regiment to subside this side effect.

Treatment is also available for the pain and nausea caused by chemotherapy.
