Advocacy

The National Prostate Cancer Coalition is your voice in Washington DC and the State Houses of America

By educating lawmakers, training advocates and working with organizations across America, NPCC has led the fight to increase government investment in prostate cancer research from $85.5 million in 1995 to more than $441 million in 2007.

Federal Advocacy

National Prostate Cancer Coalition’s Department of Federal Relations works to increase the nation’s investment in new research strategies, accelerate the approval of new cancer treatments, assure access to the best treatment available, and expand programs to increase prostate cancer education and promote early detection.

State Advocacy

NPCC’s Department of State Relations is dedicated to building grassroots advocates and influencing prostate cancer legislation throughout the states.

The Department of State Relations is organizing state efforts to require insurance companies to cover prostate cancer screening. You can get involved by writing or visiting your elected officials, testifying at hearings, joining an existing state coalition, or building a new one.

How You Can Get Involved

You can be an advocate and help us influence lawmakers. The most important thing you can do is to visit your Congressman and Senators personally, either in Washington, DC or when they are home in your district.

You can also call, email or fax your representatives and tell them the importance of increasing prostate cancer research funding. A hometown voice goes a long way to influence a lawmaker’s decision.

Contact Us

We need the voice of advocates like you to help us make a difference. Contact Kevin Johnson or Heather Gordon on NPCC's public policy team with any questions or comments, or to learn how you can get your message to the decision-makers on Capitol Hill. Please be sure to include the names of the Representative and Senators that you vote for, and your name and address.
