September Is 'Prostate Cancer Awareness Month'
President Obama has issued a proclamation designating September 2009 as "National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month," noting this as "an opportunity to renew our commitment to find better ways to prevent, defeat, and control this disease."
Each September, ZERO and our partners offer free PSA testing, and host fundraisers and national media campaigns to raise awareness about prostate cancer and the need for early detection. ZERO is one of several health organizations that helped launch the "Stand Up to Cancer" national awareness campaign featuring tennis pro John McEnroe as a spokesperson.
In 2009, ZERO celebrates Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in a big way. ZERO will host its second annual Dash for Dad and Team ZERO will run the Marine Corps Marathon and the ING New York City Marathon to raise awareness and funds for free testing in the DC area. ZERO also offers several opportunities for advocates and volunteers to spread the prostate cancer awareness message through the Summit to End Prostate Cancer on Capitol Hill and several Drive Against Prostate Cancer testing days across the U.S.
Show your support for ZERO this September and order a ZERO pin from our ZERO Store.
