On Race Day

Dash for DadWe need a large number of volunteers on race day to help out in the following areas:

  • On-site Registration
This entails helping runners fill out the registration forms, pay their entry fees and ensuring they have their bib numbers, goodie bags, and T-shirts.
  • Race Day Packet Pick-Up
This includes giving the pre-registered runners their bib numbers, ChampionChips, goodie bag and T-shirt and will require a two-hour commitment on race morning.
  • On Course Water Stations
Hand and out water to the thirsty runners during the race.
  • Course Marshalls
Course Marshalls keep the runners on the course and preventing any cars which may have strayed onto the course from colliding with the runners. This is also a great opportunity to cheer the runners on as they pass.
  • Split Timers
This involves giving the runners the elapsed time in the race at each mile point on the course and will require a good set of vocal cords and a runner's digital watch.
  • Post Race Food and Water
This will involve handing out food to the runners, restocking the food table and replacing trash bags when needed.

About the Race   Registration   Sponsors   About ZERO

Lace up your sneakers and join us on September 27 for the 2009 Abbott and Depend Dash for Dad, a 10K race to support ZERO – The Project to End Prostate Cancer. It's the only capital area race against the disease and the largest one in the nation. The Washington, DC metro area leads the country in prostate cancer death rates. Nationwide, a man dies every 18 minutes. But there is hope – education about prostate cancer risk, early detection and advancements in treatments through research can save countless lives. All Proceeds will go to prostate cancer research and free testing in the Washington, D.C. area.

The entry fee for the 10K is $25, and $30 after Sept. 4. The 2 mile fun walk entry fee is $10.

Form a Team

Round up your friends, co-workers, community groups (club, church or association) or schools and form a team to run the race and fundraise to end prostate cancer. Team captains can set up their team by registering online as a team.
